Make yourself comfortable, we have work to discuss!

Welcome to the Engineers Site Office. This is where engineers gather and check in when they have project tasks to organise and carry out.

This page is to discuss anything related to WikiProject Engineering and issues of ongoing concern.

More articles or pages in need of attention could be found here at Category:Unreferenced Engineering articles and Category:Engineering articles needing attention.

There is a requested move discussion at Talk:Pedestrian safety through vehicle design#Requested move 23 September 2025 that may be of interest to members of this WikiProject. TarnishedPathtalk 11:35, 8 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Seeking collaborators: “Kinematics of Sliding” model (tribology/manufacturing/transport)

[edit]

Hi all,

I’m developing freely licensed diagrams, animations, and a lay-readable explanation of a generalized sliding distance model (kinematics; differing surface velocities). Intended uses: bearings, conveyors, gears, rolling processes, grinding, and transport systems. I’ll host media on Commons and draft pages in userspace before mainspace.

I’d value: (1) scope/structure advice, (2) sourcing standards, (3) pointers to existing articles needing this content.

A draft is available at [[1]]

Thanks!

Sliding between two objects in motion and in contact is an undesirable industrial phenomenon, as it generates heat and accelerates wear of the bodies involved. This article provides a valuable study of the issue, offering deeper insight into the problem and serving as a foundation for research aimed at reducing the negative effects of sliding. ~2025-39668-91 (talk) 06:04, 10 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Draft article for review: Passatore sailboat (1970s innovative wooden series production)

[edit]

Dear all, I would like to let you know about a draft currently waiting for review: Draft:Passatore.

This article is an English translation of the existing Italian Wikipedia page about the Passatore, a wooden sailboat model designed by Finot and built in Italy in the 1970s.

From an engineering perspective, the Passatore was one of the first Italian sailboats to be produced in series using wood - an innovative manufacturing approach for its time. The draft includes details about the design and construction techniques that allowed efficient serial production while maintaining craftsmanship quality.

I would very much appreciate your feedback and, if possible, a review.

Thank you! --Palco10 (talk) 13:09, 7 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Looking for collaborators in for Engineering in Wikiversity

[edit]

Hello all! Actually my second post here, I first made a post in 2022 under my hold username, Ivangiesen, (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Engineering/Archive_5#c-Ivangiesen-20220718022900-Interest_in_Contributing_to_HVAC_and_Building_Engineering). By the way, during my role as an engineer I have taken many thousands of pictures of HVAC equipment and rooms, so if anybody sees a need for some kind of equipment, system, layout, etc. I may have something to provide.

I am now back in school, studying solar engineering, so I'm working on adding content to wikiversity using my class notes. If anybody wants to help/work together, just drop me a message on my user page! It's kind of lonely in the engineering space in Wikiversity, and trust me, plenty of opportunities to make a big difference! IanVG (talk) 23:15, 12 November 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Good article reassessment for The Churchill Machine Tool Company

[edit]

The Churchill Machine Tool Company has been nominated for a good article reassessment. If you are interested in the discussion, please participate by adding your comments to the reassessment page. Discussion about WikiProject banner templates

[edit]

For WikiProjects that participate in rating articles, the banners for talk pages usually say something like:

There is a proposal to change the default wording on the banners to say "priority" instead of "importance". This could affect the template for your group. Please join the discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Council#Proposal to update wording on WikiProject banners. Notice

The article Follower plate pump has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unsourced for 19 years. Tagged as Unreferenced for 6 years. No other language has a reliably sourced article from which to translate. Original research.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion based on established criteria.

If the proposed deletion has already been carried out, you may request undeletion of the article at any time. Bearian (talk) 18:00, 7 December 2025 (UTC)[reply]

questionable notability?

[edit]

Dear colleagues,

I hope this message finds you well.

I have been working on a draft article titled Kinematics of sliding. Over time, I’ve made several improvements and refinements to the content. However, the draft remains flagged as "not sufficiently notable for inclusion in Wikipedia."

I would greatly appreciate it if a member of WikiProject Engineering could kindly review the draft and, if deemed appropriate, consider providing a supporting statement regarding the significance of this topic. Your input would be invaluable in helping to clarify its relevance within the field of engineering.

Thank you very much for your time and consideration.
