From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Use the templates {{Contradict-other}} or {{Contradict-inline}} to put articles in this category.

Advice for resolving contradictions:

  • Fact-check the contradictory claims against reliabile sources, preferably checking beyond the sources cited to confirm they are representative.
  • An apparent contradiction can be a sign that the situation is complicated and need a more nuanced explanation.
  • If there is a clear resolution to the contradiction, be bold and update both articles, removing the tag. Link to the other article in your edit summary. Update any existing talk page discussion with the outcome.
  • If you are unable to come to a clear resolution, want input from other editors, fear changes would be too controversial, or your edit is reverted, start a discussion on one of the talk pages. Link to the discussion from the other article's talk page so interested editors there can participate.
  • If civil discussion does not resolve the question, follow the steps at Wikipedia:Dispute resolution.
